Coach Lana’s Transformation Journey
MEET COACH LANA
Lana’s journey is a story of resilience, growth, and transformation. Born in Bosnia, she experienced the harrowing civil war during her childhood, living through four years of food insecurity and emotional trauma. Immigrating to Canada in 1995 at the age of 13, she carried the weight of these early experiences, which shaped an unhealthy relationship with food and a sense of victimhood that consumed her for years. As a wife and mother of two daughters, Mila (19) and Ana (16), Lana built a life filled with love but found herself struggling with her health and mindset. In 2015, she decided to take control, joining GFIT as a client and losing 54 pounds. This marked the beginning of a profound transformation—not just physically but mentally and emotionally. Fitness became Lana’s outlet during her 15-year career as a Child and Family Services social worker. While her work was fulfilling, it was also mentally and emotionally draining. Nutrition and working out provided a sense of control and clarity in an otherwise chaotic environment. By 2020, Lana transitioned from social work to coaching full-time with GFIT, aligning her passion for helping others with her personal values and growth.

Coaching Journey and Current Lifestyle

Lana’s fitness journey truly began when she stopped blaming her circumstances and started taking responsibility for her health. After years of yo-yo dieting and an unhealthy relationship with food, she realized she needed a structured, sustainable approach.Working with her coach, Grant, Lana followed multiple phases, including Primer, Body Recomposition, Fat Loss, Reverse Diet, and Maintenance. Each phase taught her to respect the process, build healthy habits, and embrace balance. Now, Lana lives in maintenance most of the year, as she teaches her clients what to do. Her goal is to model a balanced, sustainable lifestyle where health and happiness coexist.
