Quick answer

What is GFIT's online postpartum coaching?

GFIT Wellness offers online postpartum coaching for Winnipeg and Manitoba women in the first 0–3 years after baby, and beyond. It's led by Lexie Carvey, a certified health and fitness coach with multiple postpartum-specific certifications and years of real postpartum client transformations across Winnipeg and Manitoba. Each client meets monthly 1:1 with registered health professionals (Registered Dietitians, Registered Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Naturopathic Doctors, and Clinical Counsellors), coordinated with pelvic floor physiotherapists, OBs, midwives, and family physicians — not a replacement for clinical care. Crisis support: Postpartum Support International (postpartum.net / 1-800-944-4773). Covered by most Canadian extended health insurance plans, NIHB, VAC, and CAF benefits.

The program

Postpartum is not a 6-week event. It's a 1–3 year recovery.

Sleep, stress & daily-routine design

Occupational Therapists and Registered Social Workers helping you architect days that don't require perfect sleep.

06
Care coordination

Coordinated with your clinical team

Pelvic floor PT, OB, midwife, family doctor. You won't translate between providers — that's our job.

Meet Lexie Carvey

GFIT's postpartum specialist coach · Winnipeg

Most GFIT postpartum clients work directly with Lexie. She holds multiple postpartum-specific certifications and has built her practice around the actual reality of postpartum recovery: the sleep deprivation, the time scarcity, the body that's been through something profound, and the gradual nature of real rebuilding.

Her specialty:

PPostpartum-aware return-to-fitness coaching that respects how long recovery actually takes — coordinated with your pelvic floor physiotherapist and family physician, never replacing them. Years of real Winnipeg and Manitoba postpartum client transformations.

Her philosophy:
"To me, postpartum isn't about bouncing back — it's about rehabbing, recovering, and building back stronger than ever. I help new moms rehab their core and pelvic floor, optimize their nutrition, and build their best-ever physiques through the postpartum period and beyond.""

If Lexie's caseload is full when you book, you'll be matched with another genuinely postpartum-focused coach on the team — never a generalist filling a slot.

In their words

What Lexie's clients are saying

Real check-ins from moms Lexie coaches across Winnipeg and Manitoba, shared with their consent.

★★★★★

"I feel physically stronger when I lift my son off the ground. We were early to swimming lessons and I had to hold him for about ten minutes on the pool deck — and it felt easy. It would have been a struggle before I started strength training."

Lauren C. · Lexie's client
★★★★★

"I had a busy week but still got all my weight-lifting workouts done — I even brought my son down to my home gym for two of them. I used to make excuses: not enough sleep, no time away from the baby. This week I did it anyway."

Karine M. · Lexie's client
★★★★★

"I stuck to my meal plan and I'm feeling good about it — managed my workouts and kept my steps up. I feel more and more confident with my training and my eating each week."

FAQ

Common questions about postpartum coaching

When can I actually start exercising after having a baby?
Standard guidance is to wait for medical clearance (typically the 6-week check; later for a C-section or complications). But “cleared to exercise” is not the same as “ready for pre-pregnancy training.” Postpartum return is a months-long progression.
Do I need to see a pelvic floor physiotherapist before working with GFIT?
We strongly recommend it. Pelvic floor assessment is clinical work outside our scope. We'll point you to qualified Winnipeg pelvic floor physiotherapists.
Is postpartum coaching covered by insurance in Manitoba?
Often yes — from multiple categories of your plan, since RD, RSW, OT, ND, CC, and PSY are typically separate billable lines. Coverage varies by plan.
Can I do postpartum coaching while breastfeeding?
Yes. Our Registered Dietitians are experienced in breastfeeding-aware nutrition that protects your energy and milk supply.
How is GFIT different from stroller-fit or mom bootcamp classes?
Group classes don't customize to your specific postpartum recovery, sleep, nutrition, mental health, or pelvic floor situation. GFIT is true 1:1 coaching.
Will postpartum coaching help me lose the baby weight?
When the timing is right and the approach is sustainable, yes — but not aggressive postpartum weight loss, especially while breastfeeding.
What if I'm dealing with diastasis recti?
Assessment is the scope of pelvic floor PT. We design training that respects what your pelvic floor physiotherapist recommends.
I'm 2+ years postpartum and never got proper recovery. Is it too late?
No. Many clients come to us 2, 3, even 5+ years postpartum.
I think I might have postpartum depression or anxiety. Can you help?
Clinical PPD or PPA requires clinical mental health care. Please contact Postpartum Support International at 1-800-944-4773. We can coach in parallel once clinical care is in motion.
How fast can I start postpartum coaching with GFIT?
A discovery call is usually available within a few days.
