Does NIHB cover weight loss coaching?

Yes — NIHB covers registered health professional services for eligible First Nations and Inuit clients. Our Registered Social Workers prepare the paperwork while our admin team manages the approval process.

Does VAC or CAF cover weight loss coaching?

Veterans and Canadian Armed Forces members — and often their dependents — may have coaching covered under their supplementary health benefits. Coverage check on your discovery call.

Do you offer in-person weight loss coaching in Winnipeg, or is it all online?

How much protein do I need to lose fat?

Most clients land around 1.6–2.2 g per kg of body weight per day, but your Registered Dietitian sets your exact target based on your size, training, and health history.

Do I have to count calories to lose weight?

No. Some clients do well with tracking; others use portion-based or habit-based methods. Your coach and RD match the approach to you — the best method is the one you can sustain through a Manitoba winter, not just a motivated week.

How much weight can I expect to lose?

We don't promise specific numbers. Sustainable weight loss is typically 0.5–1% of body weight per week in early phases, slowing over time.

How do I keep the weight off after coaching ends?

That's the actual goal of the program. Behaviour-led coaching with our Registered Social Workers and Clinical Counsellors builds the routines, skills, and identity that hold after the program ends.

How does the weekly coach vs. monthly registered professional model actually work?

Your weekly relationship is with one of our 27 certified coaches. Each month, you also meet 1:1 with registered professionals (RD, RSW, OT, PSY, ND, CC) whose disciplines matter for your plan. The coach is your continuous thread; the registered professionals are the clinical depth.

How is GFIT different from a weight loss clinic?

Weight loss clinics focus on the medical side (prescriptions, injections). GFIT focuses on the behaviour side (sustainable training, nutrition, mindset). The best outcomes often combine the two.
