✓ Often covered by extended benefits, NIHB, VAC & CAF
GFIT Wellness is a Winnipeg-based, Manitoba-licensed online coaching service for women in perimenopause and menopause. You work weekly with one of GFIT’s 27 certified coaches — including a seven-person menopause specialty team (April Klippenstein, Lana Jankovic, Suzanne Harden and more) — and meet monthly 1:1 with registered health professionals (RD, RSW, OT, Psychologist, ND, CC). Strength-led, hormone-aware, sleep-and-stress-integrated, and coordinated with HRT prescribers. Covered by most Canadian extended health plans, NIHB, VAC, and CAF.
Hormones. Sleep. Strength loss. Stubborn menopause belly fat. Mood and the mental load. We treat them as one connected physiology — not six separate tabs.
The single most important intervention for menopausal physiology — muscle, bone density, insulin sensitivity, metabolic rate. Programmed to where you are and progressed steadily.
Registered Dietitians build protein-forward, no-rigid-restriction plans that respect menopausal metabolism — adjusted in monthly 1:1 sessions.
Hot flashes, night sweats, cortisol shifts. Occupational Therapists and Social Workers layer in sleep architecture and nervous-system regulation.
Menopause is an identity shift. Social Workers and Clinical Counsellors handle the emotional layer fitness programs ignore.
We don’t prescribe HRT. Naturopathic Doctors coordinate on hormones, thyroid and metabolic markers — alongside your prescriber.
On HRT or considering it, GFIT works alongside your medical team. We’re the coaching layer, not the medical layer.
You’re coached by GFIT’s full certified team — with a dedicated perimenopause & menopause group matched to your stage, goals and personality. Three of them share how they coach:

“You haven’t lost discipline. Your body changed, and the rules of fat loss and strength changed with it. For the past five years I’ve coached women through exactly this — and I’m in perimenopause myself. Across Winnipeg and Manitoba, I coach with midlife physiology, not against it: rebuilding muscle, supporting metabolism, managing recovery. No extremes, no shortcuts.”View Suzanne's bio →

“What worked in your 30s stops working in midlife — I’ve lived it. I coach busy women across Manitoba, pre- and post-menopause, who want to lose fat and balance their hormones without giving up the lives they’re already running. I started with GFIT in Winnipeg juggling two jobs, two kids and a household, so I don’t hand out plans that ignore real life.”View Lana's bio →

“Most women reach perimenopause having been told everything is ‘normal’ while nothing feels normal. As a Certified Menopause Coaching Specialist in Winnipeg, I help women work with their bodies, not against them — compassionate and science-based. I can’t want it more than you do, but I’ll do everything I can to help you get there.”View April's bio →

From women in perimenopause and menopause who had given up on weight loss being possible “at this stage” — and rebuilt across months of patient, coordinated coaching.

“I’ve developed habits I know I’ll carry forever — better sleep, 10,000 steps a day, quality protein at every meal. I even matched my 10 km PR from fifteen years ago!”

“I was 188 lbs and facing a health crisis. Today I’m 150 lbs — stronger, healthier and more alive than I’ve been in years. Change is possible. You just have to start.”

“52 pounds down, but so much more. This journey taught me belief, mindset, and that you can do hard things — even in the midst of adversity. You just have to start somewhere!”

“The GFIT community cheers for you and celebrates your wins — and when you’re down, they help you back up with the love and support of family. I can’t imagine my life without it.”
“I can’t believe how much I’ve improved my body composition and lifestyle — especially as a busy mom of a toddler and a newborn. I’m so proud to be going into this wedding in the best shape, mentally and physically.”
“I’ve been with GFIT for over eight years, and as a busy mom their support made all the difference — an easy-to-follow plan to fuel my body and live a balanced lifestyle, all while still enjoying life.”
“My experience with Lana has been amazing — each month she put together my nutrition perfectly, even with some pretty intense restrictions. The workouts have been great for the results I want!”

Because your hormonal physiology has fundamentally changed. Estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone shifts alter metabolic rate, fat distribution, insulin sensitivity, sleep, and recovery — which is why so much weight settles as stubborn menopause belly fat. The plan that worked in your 30s often makes things actively worse. The fix is a strategy built for the body you have now.
No — but it is the default if nothing changes. Most women gain 10–30 lbs across the transition because their body has changed and their strategy hasn’t. With strength training, protein-forward nutrition, sleep and stress work, and appropriate medical support, that trajectory can be reversed.
Yes. HRT can make some things easier (sleep, mood, hot flashes), but it is not required for weight loss. Our program works whether you’re on HRT, not on HRT, or undecided. The fundamentals — strength training, protein, sleep, stress — work in all scenarios.
That’s a decision for you and your physician, not us. We don’t prescribe HRT. What we will tell you: HRT alone does not produce significant weight loss for most women, but the symptom relief it provides often makes the behavioural work much more sustainable.
Three reasons. It fights sarcopenia — the accelerated muscle loss that starts at menopause and undermines metabolic rate, insulin sensitivity, and bone density. It improves how your body handles carbohydrates. And it protects bone density, critical post-menopause when osteoporosis risk rises sharply.
Most clients aim for roughly 1 gram of protein per pound of lean body mass per day — for a 150-pound woman, typically 110–130 grams daily. That’s significantly more than most women are eating, and almost always the first thing your Registered Dietitian adjusts.
Yes — and we’d actively recommend it. GLP-1 weight loss without strength training and adequate protein leads to disproportionate muscle and bone loss, especially in menopause. Pairing your medication with menopause-aware strength and nutrition protects muscle and bone while you lose fat. For coaching built around GLP-1, see our Online GLP-1 Coaching Winnipeg page.
Often yes — and often from multiple categories of your plan because GFIT’s team includes RD, RSW, OT, Psychologist, ND & Clinical Counsellor, each typically a separate billable line in extended health. We also work with NIHB, VAC & CAF. We check your specific coverage for free on your discovery call.
Your weekly relationship is with one of our menopause coaches — they know your week, your training, your sleep, your symptoms. Each month, you also meet 1:1 with the registered professionals whose disciplines matter for your situation. The coach is your continuous thread; the registered professionals are the clinical depth — and the monthly sessions are typically what insurance reimburses.
Most of our Winnipeg and Manitoba clients notice changes in energy, sleep, and strength within the first 3–4 weeks. Visible body-composition changes typically begin around 6–8 weeks and accelerate from there. That’s the right pace for this life stage — sustainable change is the goal.
GFIT’s perimenopause and menopause coaching is fully online, so we work with women across Winnipeg and all of Manitoba — no commute, no clinic waitlist. Your weekly coaching and monthly registered-professional sessions all happen online, which makes the program easy to fit around work and family.
No pressure, no obligation. We’ll talk about where you are in the menopausal transition, what you need, and check your insurance coverage on the spot.
