Frequently asked questions

Can metabolic syndrome be reversed?+

In many cases the markers of metabolic syndrome can improve substantially — especially when addressed early. Coordinated nutrition, strength training, sleep, and stress work can deliver meaningful improvement for many clients, often within 6–12 months. Individual results vary.

Can coaching help me come off diabetes medication?+

That’s a decision for you and your physician. We don’t manage medications. Many clients do have productive conversations with their doctor about reducing dosages as bloodwork, weight, and lifestyle improve through coaching.

How does GFIT work with my endocrinologist or family doctor?+

We coordinate, never compete. With your permission, we communicate about your coaching plan and progress.

Is this for type 1 or type 2 diabetes?+

Primarily type 2, pre-diabetes, and metabolic syndrome. We do work with type 1 on nutrition, training, and lifestyle, but the medical management is led by your endocrinologist.

Is diabetes coaching covered by insurance in Manitoba?+

Often yes — from multiple categories of your plan because GFIT’s team includes RDs, RSWs, OTs, Psychologists, Naturopathic Doctors, and Clinical Counsellors. Plus NIHB, VAC, CAF, RCMP. Free coverage check on your discovery call.

Can I do this program if I’m on insulin?+

Yes. Many clients use insulin. We coordinate carb timing, training around insulin curves, and lifestyle work that may, over time, allow your physician to reassess your insulin needs.

Can I do this if I’m on Ozempic, Mounjaro, or Trulicity for diabetes?+

Yes — and we’d recommend it. Our GLP-1 Coaching Winnipeg program integrates with diabetes coaching.

How is GFIT different from Diabetes Canada or hospital diabetes education?+

Those programs deliver medical education well. They’re not designed for six months of daily behaviour change. GFIT is.

How does the weekly coach + monthly registered-pro model work?+

Weekly, your certified coach knows your week. Monthly, you have 1:1 sessions with RD, ND, RSW and others — the clinical depth that insurance typically reimburses line-by-line.

How long until I see improvements in A1C?+

Many clients notice energy and fasting-glucose changes within 3–4 weeks. A1C reflects 2–3 months of averages, so meaningful A1C movement typically shows at the 3–6 month bloodwork mark. Results vary by individual.
