The program

A nutrition plan only works if it works in your life.

Calories and macros matter. So do preferences, schedules, families, restaurants, budgets and busy Tuesdays. We build both sides into the plan.

Build habits beyond the meal plan

A meal plan can tell you what to eat. It can't automatically change years of habits. Registered Social Workers and Clinical Counsellors support consistency, emotional eating, motivation and the behaviour patterns behind your choices.

Your certified coach is your continuous weekly thread; Registered Dietitians and other professionals layer in for discipline-specific depth. If your primary coach's caseload is full, you'll be matched with another coach whose experience aligns with your goals.

Honest scope of practice

What we do and what we honestly don't

Nutrition advice is everywhere. GFIT combines practical coaching with registered-professional expertise — while staying clear about when nutrition concerns require medical or specialized clinical care.

What GFIT coaching does

  • Weekly 1:1 certified coaching & monthly registered-professional sessions
  • Personalized nutrition strategies & individualized meal planning
  • Protein, meal-structure, calorie & macro guidance when appropriate
  • Grocery, meal-prep, restaurant & travel strategies
  • Food-preference accommodations & sustainable behaviour change
  • Nutrition support for fat loss & muscle building; review coverage

What we don't do

  • Prescribe one restrictive diet to everyone or promise guaranteed weight loss
  • Diagnose food allergies or medical conditions
  • Replace medical nutrition therapy when specialized clinical care is required
  • Encourage extreme calorie restriction or eliminate food groups without reason
  • Promote detoxes, cleanses or nutrition gimmicks
  • Treat eating disorders outside appropriate professional scope

The goal isn't lifelong dependence on a meal plan. It's building enough knowledge, structure and confidence that eating well becomes easier to navigate yourself. If disordered eating is a concern, the National Alliance for Eating Disorders helpline (1-866-662-1235) can connect you with support.

FAQ

Nutrition coaching & meal planning common questions

Can a Registered Dietitian make me a personalized meal plan?
Yes. GFIT's Registered Dietitians can provide individualized nutrition and meal-planning support based on your goals, preferences, lifestyle and nutritional needs. The objective isn't simply handing you a rigid menu — it's creating enough structure to make healthy eating easier while helping you develop skills you can use long term.
What's the difference between a Registered Dietitian and a nutrition coach?
A Registered Dietitian is a regulated health professional with formal education and supervised clinical training in nutrition. “Nutrition coach” is not the same regulated professional designation. At GFIT, Registered Dietitians provide evidence-based nutrition expertise while your certified health & fitness coach helps you implement your plan, stay accountable and navigate your week.
Do I need to count calories or macros to eat well?
Not necessarily. Tracking can be useful for some people and goals, but it isn't the only way to improve nutrition. Depending on your needs, your plan may use calorie or macronutrient targets, portions, meal templates or other strategies. We use the level of structure that helps rather than adding complexity for its own sake.
How much protein do I need each day?
Protein needs vary based on body size, activity, age, health and whether your goal is fat loss, muscle building, performance or general health. Rather than using one generic target for everyone, your Registered Dietitian can help establish an appropriate intake and show you how to distribute protein across your meals.
Can my meal plan include foods I actually like?
Yes. Food preferences matter because a nutritionally perfect plan you dislike isn't particularly useful. Your plan can account for foods you enjoy, cultural preferences, cooking ability, schedule and lifestyle while still supporting your goals.
Can you accommodate food allergies, intolerances or dietary preferences?
Meal planning can generally accommodate known allergies, intolerances and preferences such as vegetarian eating. GFIT does not diagnose food allergies or medical conditions; suspected allergies or significant gastrointestinal symptoms should be appropriately assessed by a qualified healthcare provider.
Can I eat at restaurants and still follow my nutrition plan?
Yes. Restaurant meals, travel, celebrations and social events are part of real life. Your coach can help you plan ahead, understand portions, prioritize what matters and make choices that support your goals without requiring every meal to be perfect.
Do you provide meal-prep and grocery-shopping help?
Yes. Meal planning can include practical strategies for groceries, meal preparation, batch cooking, simple meals, food swaps and making busy weeks easier. The goal is to reduce the amount of daily decision-making required to eat well.
Can nutrition coaching help with weight loss or muscle building?
Yes. Nutrition can be personalized to support fat loss, muscle development, body recomposition or maintenance. The appropriate strategy differs depending on the goal — which is why GFIT doesn't use the same calories, macros or meal plan for everyone.
Is nutrition coaching covered by insurance in Manitoba?
Registered Dietitian services are included in many Canadian extended health benefit plans. Depending on your policy, other GFIT registered-professional services may also qualify. GFIT works with NIHB, VAC and CAF benefits as well. We'll help review your specific coverage during your free discovery call.
