Quick Answer

What is GFIT's online nutrition coaching?

GFIT Wellness is a Winnipeg-based, Manitoba-licensed nutrition coaching service led by a Registered Dietitian. Your featured RD lead is Shea Wolff, who specializes in sports nutrition and mindful eating. You work weekly with a certified coach and meet monthly, one-on-one, with an RD.

The distinction matters. In Canada, "nutritionist" is unregulated. A "Registered Dietitian" is a protected, regulated title, governed in Manitoba by the College of Dietitians of Manitoba. It is the credential insurance recognizes, and RD services are often covered by Canadian extended health plans.

Why the dual-role matters for insurance

Because Shea is a Registered Dietitian, your monthly 1:1 nutrition sessions with her are often reimbursed under "Registered Dietitian" services in your extended health plan. The weekly coaching layer continues alongside that — one practitioner who knows your whole picture.

If Shea's caseload is full or your need is more specialty-driven (GLP-1, diabetes, menopause, postpartum, IBS, sport), we'll match you with the right RD or RD-plus-coach combination.

Client Voices

In their clients' words

FAQ

Questions, answered

What's the difference between a nutritionist and a Registered Dietitian in Canada?+

In Canada, "nutritionist" is an unregulated term that anyone can use. "Registered Dietitian" is a regulated, protected title. Becoming one requires an accredited degree, a supervised practicum, a national exam, and provincial regulation. In Manitoba, that's the College of Dietitians of Manitoba. The RD credential is the one Canadian extended health plans recognize for reimbursement.

Is online nutrition coaching covered by insurance in Manitoba?+

Often yes. Registered Dietitian services are among the most widely-covered registered health services on Canadian extended health plans. Many plans also reimburse under NIHB, VAC, CAF, and RCMP benefits. We'll check your specific coverage for free on your discovery call.

Do you do meal plans?+

Yes, but they're flexible, structured options. They're not the rigid prescriptive plans most clients abandon within two weeks. The goal is a sustainable approach to nutrition you can actually keep.

Do I need a doctor's referral to see a dietitian in Winnipeg?+

No, for most plans. Some Blue Cross plans do require a physician referral for reimbursement, and we'll check that for you on the discovery call.

Can your Registered Dietitian help with GLP-1 nutrition?+

Yes. GFIT supports GLP-1 nutrition in Winnipeg, and we have a dedicated GLP-1 Coaching Winnipeg page if that's your primary need.

Can your Registered Dietitian help with perimenopause or menopause?+

Yes. We support perimenopause and menopause nutrition, and our dedicated Menopause Coaching Winnipeg program goes deeper on hormones and metabolism.

Can your Registered Dietitian help with diabetes?+

Yes. GFIT's Registered Dietitian supports diabetes and pre-diabetes nutrition in Winnipeg, with a dedicated Diabetes & Metabolic Coaching Winnipeg page.

How does the weekly coach + monthly Registered Dietitian model work?+

Each week you meet with a certified coach who knows your week and holds you accountable. Once a month you have a 1:1 session with a Registered Dietitian who designs your plan and adjusts it based on your progress. The monthly RD session is typically what insurance reimburses.

How long until I see results?+

Most clients notice energy and digestion changes within 2 to 3 weeks. Body-composition changes typically follow over 6 to 8 weeks.

How fast can I start?+

Most clients have their free discovery call within a few days of reaching out.

Ready when you are.
